Press Release: COP27, Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt

 

With the world’s attention now focused on Egypt. Lights on Sharm El Sheikh, from November 6th – 18th, 2022, Women for a Change and partners are attending the 27th Edition of the Conference of Parties (COP27). 

 

As part of the mandate of Wfac, alongside #GenEgaliteECCAS, galvanizing and amplifying adolescents and young people, grassroots women, and girls’ voices from communities to the center stage of decision making and policy change, COP27 is where it all matters, and where the world comes together in solidarity and community with each other to demand for climate justice. 

 

With over 200 governments and 44,000 people across all walks of life and ages all present in Sharm El Sheikh for COP27, this global come together provides Wfac and the platform of GenEgaliteECCAS Movement an opportunity to share with the world their challenges and opportunities in advancing climate action within the ECCAS-CEMAC subregion.

 

As stated by Wfac ED, ,& co-convene for GenEgaliteECCAS, “The time for change is now, and with the profound work of Wfac and GenEgaliteECCAS in showcasing the role grassroots women and girls play in advancing climate action across the CEMAC-ECCAS region through cross border solidarity visits, exchange learnings and skills sharing programs, capacity building workshops and trainings, COP27 presents yet another global opportunity to amplify the voices and actions of adolescents and young people, alongside women and girls in the fight against climate crisis”, Zoneziwoh Mbondgulo-Wondieh.
